Product Information

ProFab® nonwoven geotextiles are manufactured from the extrusion of fibres which are then laid down on a manufacturing “bed” and then needle punched to entangle the fibres such that a dimensionally stable product is formed. Some additional thermal treatment is then applied to further improve the strength of the geotextile. Because of this manufacturing process non-woven geotextiles are generally best used in applications of drainage, filtration and protection.

L&N Group offer the ProFab® nonwoven geotextile in a range of weights, strengths and filtration characteristics for these engineering applications. In certain applications such as asphalt or chip resealing works the use of a ProFab® paving geotextile may be useful as an interstitial layer (impregnated with bitumen) to provide an impermeable waterproofing layer to the reconstructed pavement and to minimise the propagation of “reflection” cracking.

Applications

Due the manufacturing process and their permeable properties, ProFab® non-woven geotextiles are generally best used in applications of drainage, filtration and separation.

  1. Drainage

ProFab® non woven Geotextiles will efficiently collect surplus water from structures, such as rainwater or surplus water, from the soil and discharge it.

  1. Filtration

ProFab® non woven geotextiles provide superior hydraulic flow and soil retention, which makes them well suited for filtration in subsurface drainage applications and under hard armour systems.

  1. Separation

ProFab® non woven geotextiles are used for paved and unpaved roads, where ground conditions have been compromised. As a separation layer, geotextiles can aid preventing the intermixing of dissimilar materials, add to the performance life of the road and reduce the overall thickness of the road section by requiring less aggregate during construction.
